Motivation for Athletes all around the World!

Motivation is the foundation all athletic effort and accomplishment. Without your desire and determination to improve your sports performances, all of the other mental factors, confidence, intensity, focus, and emotions, are meaningless.

#14 - "Next Play, Next Play"

A lot of different athletes find it hard to move on to the next play after they make a critical mistake in a ball game, especially basketball players. Once an player air balls in a basketball game the taunt begins "air ball, air ball". But if the fellow athlete has the "next play" motto it reminds the player to leave there mistake in the past and focus on the next play and the upcoming moment. When players make mistakes coaches even yells out "next play" because he or she doesn't want them to linger on the bad for so long.

#13 - Keep your eyes on the Prize

Athletes around the world gets distracted by a lot of things when there up coming season is right around the corner, rather it's a significant other or family issues. With all that going on you should always keep your eyes on the prize. But, with that being said all athletes have different goals to achieve. A worthwhile goal is freely chosen, meaningful to you, and so desirable that you can enjoy the process of getting there as much as the result. For example, Tyrann Mathieu came out of the University of LSU has one of the highest projected safety's in 2013 but then got into some legal issues with the law and his draft stocked dropped. But, with him keeping his eyes on the prize he still got drafted and is one of the best safeties in the National Football League now. Life is all about goals, once you achieve the goals you have been working on all your life it can be a huge accomplishment.

#12 - Minor Setback for a Major Comeback

We don't always understand God's will, but we accept God's will. I haven't said much to anyone about my son's promising season ending week 3 against Lindenwood University. After tearing his "other" ACL. It's been really hard for him and the family, but we keep pressing. After all the whys and why me, we accept God's will, and fight. We don't complain. That's how we're built. He's a fighter, and been counted out many times before. So this isn't uncharted territory for him. If you KNOW Dwane, you know he will fight like no other.

#11 - Use setbacks as motivation

Sometimes athletes have a bad day on the field or court. A lot of different athletes are really tough on there self when they make one bad play; sometimes that one play could effect your play for the remainder of the game. One another note some athletes don't have the season there were suppose to have but with that being said you can use your failures as a springboard to your success. If athletes sit down and do there research they would find out that every athlete or team uses significant losses to motivate themselves to improve them in the upcoming season or year.

#10 - Do it for the love of the game

Every day when you wake up in the morning you have to remind yourself that your not putting in the hard work and dedication for nobody else but yourself. Everyone who puts in hard work is because the love for the game is unreal. A lot of different coaches around the world gives great pregame speeches about the game and how "its bigger than the sport". Many professional athletes always get there heads wrapped around the money and always forgets about the bigger picture. Reminding yourself that you love your sport, or your team can be a powerful motivator.

#9 - Pratice Your Craft

The Art of Film:

Athleticism alone can’t take you where you want to go, so you have to put in extra work to make it to the next level in life. You can be the best player on the team and not be coachable. Meaning that you have to be able to be coached to reach your maximum peak; you have to be willing to know everything about your opponent next move. The art of film allows the brain to intake repetitive repetition to know what your opposition every move is; if you plan on making six figures, one of the requirements is to effectively research things.  As an athlete your learning how to research and orally tell coaches everything about your opponent. If you watch film two to three hours a day it allows you to be able to take on jobs that require you to stay up late and do extra research. Think outside the box do things with great effort and work ethic, so that when your name is called you will be that shining star!

#8 - Pain is only Temporary

There are some people in life that never walked down the road of struggle and pain, and there are some who lived through it there whole life. The difference is that those who have lived in pain and struggle are motivated through not having the things they dreamed for; and those who have not, lack the understanding of fighting for things they always had. Reality is that everyone goes through pain and if you can’t prepare to deal with stress and hard times then you will not rise, so we must be able to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Sometimes we have to challenge ourselves to be in situations that we know pain and hardship will occur, but hard experiences make us stronger and wiser.

#7 - Never Settle For Less

We all know that life circumstances change all the time, but that’s the challenging affect that life has on us. When I first started working out with college athletes, I had to change my whole schedule around, and it was a great experiences because it made me become more committed to playing sports and taking care of my academics. I started to wake up at 3 am and be finished by 10 am, and after I worked out I got all my school work out the way so I could sleep in the evenings to do it all over again. At first, I thought I couldn't do it, but I had to get comfortable with being out of my comfort zone. My advice to those who are not use to doing things they have never done before is to suck it up and do it, because it makes you adjust to tough situations to overcome burdens. You have to come out your comfort zone to get what you want out of life.

#6 - Talk is Cheap; Work Hard and Get Results

Go hard, go hard, go hard! Because at the end of the day, it’s about who can stand when there is no more left, when your brain is dead, and your muscles are shot. In life everything is a competition, what will you do to be that last man standing? 2nd Thessalonians 3:10 “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat." If you’re not willing to work hard for what you want, you will find yourself not receiving the fruits of your labor. Life is more than sports but we have to embrace working hard every day to get to our destination. Make every rep and drill count because when fatigue kicks in; and you’re able to continue to push through the pain you will be considered a true champion.

#5 - It's not where you start, it's where you finish!

You ever feel like you’ve been waiting too long for your dream to become reality. Well, truth is humbleness is the key to make your dream become a reality. Cam Newton sat behind Tim Tebow for two years and never got a chance to play because of off field issues; then he went to Blinn Community College and played there one year. After winning a national championship for Blinn Community College he transferred to Auburn University and took them to the national championship. Those two years not being able to touch the field gave him a desire to stay humble and patient as he worked hard without scrutiny from scouts. And now Cam is the starting QB for the Carolina Panthers and one of the best QB’s in the league. Continue to work hard and learn everything you can. When you’re called to perform you will do it well because of your humbleness.

#4 - Character can take you a long way

Remember to challenge yourself every day in every way. Simply, because those who sacrifice will endure greatness on the other side of the fence. Today’s coverage will be about character, and most people don’t value character because they are highly concerned with their reputation. Reputation is good and takes your far, but character takes your further. Reputation is an external feature that can be deceitful. Character continues to grow and does well under pressure. All things done in the dark will eventually come into the light, so if you are being lazy and not working then you will be in the below average category. You want to always be prepared for any obstacle that tries to slow you down. Character makes you a better person and helps motivate those around you. When they see you taking care of business and they aren’t, they will come to you for answers due to their poor performance. If you are a captain of a team do everything with great character so that your light may shine in the darkness to help those who lack the ability to get on their grind.

#3 - Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Doesn't Work

How bad do you want to succeed? Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself am I doing what I need to do to be successful. If you’re partying on the weekend, getting high and drunk, then you’re not. If you not doing extra pushups and sit ups at night after morning run, school and weight lifting then you’re not. If you’re not in your playbook, watching extra film, or perfecting your craft then you’re not. Listen to me very closely; to succeed you must be willing to do what others are not. These actions separate athletes that want to be successful and the athletes who will be successful. Time you spend practicing bad habits, substitute that time with your weak areas to build them up; because while you out practicing unhealthy habits, there are other people in their playbook, watching film,  getting in extra work perfecting their craft.

Word of the day is GREATNESS!

#2 - Attack The Day

As athletes we must continue to get better every day, every second and every hour. We must attack academics and sports as equal elements to be successful on our road to glory. If you don’t approach the day with a positive and confident mindset, then you will decrease instead of increasing success. Take a look at some of the greats such as Jerry Rice, Ray Lewis, Randy Moss; and even Donald trump, Warren Buffet and Steve Jobs. All these successful men inspired the world with their desire to be great and change the world by being positive and confident every day. They had the mindset that they would make the next day better than the last. To athletes with a desire to make it the pros or to be successful in a professional field attack the day with authority and demand. Don’t feel like going to class is optional or getting a C is just enough to get by. We all are competing for future opportunities.
Word of the day: Attack
Definition: Set to work upon; turn one's energies vigorously to a task
Make success a goal, a task, to execute by any means necessary to accomplish your deepest desire and by mentally preparing for everyday problems, task and situations that challenge you.

Inspiring Athletes Introduction

Hello, my name is Dwane Simmons is my blog will be about inspiring athletes. I chose to attack this topic because there are a lot of people out there that want to be athletes but don't have the heart nor soul to do so. My purpose is to let a lot of people know that anything is possible if you put your mind to it; and giving up should never be a opinion. The reason I make that statement is because I have been through a lot myself and at times I wanted to give up but I kept my head up and kept pushing. Life is all about taking advantage of your opportunities because you will never get that day back.
